Caro Burks is a West Virginian who received her BFA at Virginia Commonwealth University in Craft and Material Studies (2015) and attended the University of Arkansas as a post baccalaureate (2015-2017). She received her MFA at Southern Illinois University in the spring of 2020. Her work employs mixed media to reference traditional craft and themes of strange femininity, religious mysticism, and the mythology of the post-industrial landscape. She has participated in multiple two-person and juried exhibitions nationally and been awarded residencies at both Penland School of Craft and Anderson Ranch Arts Center.

Caro Burks’s work was on display at SHAG in May 2021 as part of her solo exhibition, Bitter and Sour.
